Harry planted these beans from seeds, and cares for them on a daily basis. He makes sure they are watered, and also that they are climbing and winding there way to the top! He came up with the idea to mark in texta how much they grow overnight, as it's amazing to see the growth each day! They grow about Xcm every day, and currently measure Xm high! Well above Harry's head!
Rather than using the watering back and fourth to the chickens (the hose doesn't reach), the students found an old hose, and placed the hoses inside each other like an extension. They used watering cans to catch the water runoff and the chickens had fresh water in no time!
Can you spot the pumpkins? We have two big and healthy pumpkins thriving! We are hoping some more appear over the next few weeks, so we can have pumpkin soup when the weather starts to turn colder. Some of the pumpkins start to grow then shrivel up when they are about the size of a fist. We think the plant is trying to keep up with the bigger pumpkins....What do you think?
Summer days are here, so that means cold watermelon treats for our girls. We've also been adding ice blocks to their water. The heat hasn't stopped them laying eggs daily for us, usually we find 6 eggs in the one box, when they have seven to choose from. I guess this means they are very happy chickens!
Our Corn crop is producing loads of cobs! Jade took home the first 2 and teamed up with zucchini and fresh eggs for some frittata's. Keep an eye on the Greenthumbs fridge over the next few days where you can purchase from fresh organic corn for a gold coin donation!
Our orchid is going extremely well 12 months in, the apple tree, has one lonely, but perfect apple. Mr Jones is currently checking on this baby every day and he can't wait for his morning tea later this week!
