We found some old school desks and thought they would make a great support structure for cucumbers. Beetroots have been under planted around the cucumbers.
New worms working hard to provide us with 'worm wee' The fertilizer is then used on the vegi patches and fruit trees.
Some of the children putting in a batch of new worms to the worm farms. There is a lot of fruit compost for them to eat as well as paper shreddings and vegi patch green waste.
Our Paper waste is shredded and put into our compost bins and also used as a mulch around fruit trees.
December 2013, buckets were put underneath the drinking taps in the breezeway. The children, teachers & parents were astonished at the amount of water that was saved in 1day. A total of 42 litres was emptied on the vegi patches instead of going down the drain hole! The children took turns in emptying the buckets and then writing down the litres onto a white board. A fantastic mathematical project was created out of saving wasted water and our vegi patches got a great soaking of re-cycled water.
